Early Life, Education, and Work Experience:
I was born and raised in Bellevue, Nebraska; I am one of the five children of Janet (Cook) and Glen Clerc. I attended St. Mary’s School in Bellevue, Gross Catholic High School, and then graduated from University of Nebraska at Omaha with a BA in Spanish Language Arts and Literature. While attending school I worked for the Zoo and volunteered for the Child Life Department at Nebraska Medicine.
After that, I completed a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Upon graduating I worked as a PA for adults and children at the Asthma & Allergy Center in Bellevue for 6 years.
Family and Leisure:
My husband and I are raising our family here in Bellevue as well. For the last several years I have been engaged as a stay-at-home mom for our two awesome children. Our oldest is a 2nd grader in BPS, and we have a 4 year old that looks forward to school also.
I enjoy spending time with family, gardening with native plants, cooking new recipes, and reading. As a family we enjoy taking in the nature and offerings of our local community, especially at Fontenelle Forest, Omaha’s zoo, and the Bellevue Public Library.
Community Involvement and Volunteer Work:
– I have been an active member of the PTA at our local school and dedicated volunteer for numerous school fundraisers.
– This summer I volunteered with the Support Our Schools Nebraska referendum petition to repeal LB753 which will affect public school funding.
– I also volunteer with Sarpy County Democrats to increase young voter registration and participation.
– Most recently I became part of the Nebraska PTA Executive Committee as well as the Chair of their Programs Committee. Early this March, I will be traveling to Washington, D.C., on behalf of Nebraska PTA, to speak with our federal representatives to advocate for education for all during LegCon.
I look forward to representing my community on the Bellevue Board of Education!
